Yet no responsible Democrat should be pleased at the prospect that Gingrich could get the GOP nomination. The future of America is too important to accept even a small risk of a Gingrich presidency.

The Republican worry is understandable. “The possibility of Newt Gingrich being our nominee against Barack Obama I think is essentially handling the election over to Obama,” says former Minnesota Governor Tom Pawlenty, a leading GOP conservative. “I think that’s shared by a lot of folks in the Republican party.”

I haven’t played a single game of star craft in 2 weeks. In the past six months, I’ve played about 10 sessions, each only an hour or so. I haven’t been placed in a 1v1 league since season 3.

Operation: Blacksmith

Brief: I’ve been planning in creating a desktop computer and it’s occurred to me I should blog my progress. Operation Blacksmith is the plan and execution of my acquiring a “gaming Rig”. It shall detail my growth of knowledge about computers, saving the necessary monies, purchasing the parts, and putting the rig together.

Knowledge on hand: Pretty much nothing. I know some minor minor basics. I know terms (cpu, mother board, ect) but not really what they mean. I know several places I can get parts online. I know several people who have built rigs and know computers.

Goal: I want a computer that can run high end level games at slight better than average performance. I want all the basic Microsoft programs. I want to run two screens. I want to have StarCraft 2 on High settings on one screen and the internet and music flawlessly running on the other. I want my computer to be strong, smart, and versetile. I don’t know if I want to build my computer with room to grow. That will probably be a budget decision. I know I want my computer finshed preferably by summer, but no later than the end of summer.

Budget: I plan to spend about $1200 on the physical computer. This excludes keyboard, mouse, monitors, and speakers.

Schedule: I hope to start saving when work starts again January 30th. I hope to save half my paycheck. I require myself to save at least a quarter of it for Blacksmith purposes. While I save I hope to learn the things about computers I need to know.

I’m also saving for a computer. I don’t know anything about them really, but my twin brother does (he’s getting a computer engineering degree) I thought i’d share some tips I’ve learned from him (p.s. his gaming rig is awesome)!

more screens means more money for better parts (i’m going dual screen!)

technology changes really fast. A list of parts you put together today may not be the optional thing to buy 6 months from now. Pick a budget number, get it together, then buy.

Comps are expensive and we all need to save but the more you shell out the longer your computer generally will last both in terms of tech and health (long term savings!)

depending on how much time you have, learn computer stuff! It’ll help you understand what you need to buy! Power to the people! I suggest http://www.grassrootsdesign.com/intro/hardware.php I’m finding it pretty helpful myself.

don’t buy expensive because its expensive. Don’t buy fancy because its fancy. Most expensive and fancy items are aimed at people who don’t realize what they’re buying. It may be nice, but its not the most cost effective buy. Buy what you buy because it fits your computer.

Sit down and write a list of what you want. SC2 is designed to be run on weak computers. Do you need more than SC2? does it need wifi? does it need art? Do you want a rig with room for expansion later?
